To my own experiences, multiplied by those of a colleague who suffers from PTSD, bipolarity, depression and OCD, plus those of an asylum seeker whom the colleague assisted over a period of years, I can confirm that so many institutional roles are deeply damaging to the vulnerable. and these are just institutions who claim to be available to assist the vulnerable!
