Stress burns up nutrients rapidly. Almost everyone lives in a "high stress" state, which is one more reason why, in my opinion, everyone needs to take supplements in order to enjoy optimum health. Also getting good sleep and meditating are very valuable in our modern world.
I believe that all things are inter related, good and bad. Everything we do sends out ripples in every direction. Are we the senders of good ripples or bad ones? Our choice.
Thank you Gary. I agree that stress is the modern day equivalent of the hairy mammoth! In my own work I find that supporting people to attune to their body's innate wisdom and intelligence, reconnect and listen, at least for those who feel ready to do so, is a stepping stone to meeting their stressors and feeling more of a sense of coherence. Becoming aware of our own levels of stress enables us to notice the contrast between the nervous system feeling expansive and relaxed, with sensations of physical discomfort, tension or dissociation where the body feels less accessible. Tuning in to somatic sensations and inner energies, for someone who is, as you describe, in a state of learned helplessness, can feel incredibly confronting. This process can take time and needs commitment. I feel that the prevalence of this resistance, which I witness frequently, is an upshot of the scientific and heroic traditions of medicine where doctors and consultants are perceived as mechanics, diagnosticians and gods. Indeed, reclaiming and trusting our power, bodily autonomy, and regularly observing our inner landscape, are key to meeting and integrating whatever our stress sensitivities are and releasing the associated energies to help us to feel more in flow and hold safe spaces for others.

I think I agree!
Great piece, Gary. I liked and cross-posted!
Thank you!
A crucial topic, indeed, in this crazy clown world shit-show, haha!
