I too have worked with a number of people with Parkinson's and tremors that settle during the course of a therapy session - one who eventually got to the point where as soon as he got into his car to make the drive to his session, his tremor became less - unless he was particularly stressed - from there we could find ways to access that state without associating it with the therapy through the felt sense of his internal state and learning to 'change gear' of his nervous system state.

This makes so much sense - I never connected the tremors you see with diseases like Parkinson - as a symptom of stress (I know someone I will forward this to, who deals with them).

I am familiar with the process of releasing trauma in the body though (was in an earthquake that did a lot of damage when my kids were young). My therapist Aunt had given me some techniques. Basically revisited the scene of the crime in my mind, night after night, until I could go through the whole thing without my body in panic. It took about a year - plus phone sessions with her that included other body work. At the end I could discuss it without feeling emotional or stressed at all. Became really neutral. Was a pivotal experience that way.

This is a bit like Lilian's process, however, she would support another person or a protector into the memory. According to Bonnie Badenoch's work, trauma occurs when we are alone are unsupported. Folks who have a strong sense of "internalized others" tend to be more resilient.

I have a PTSD friend, who would benefit greatly by this kind of help. I've tried suggesting it, but so far she's unwilling. Just keeps cycling the same narrative about her trauma (she was 8) as if it's a done deal. I often wonder (as I listen to her repeat the same old stories) if there is anything I could say to help break it up. (So far no.) I get a sense, that she's attached both a 'specialness' to herself through the trauma and also uses it as a cover to hide behind. I could be wrong. But, is that, in your experience, common?

My personal experience is that the suffering had to become great enough for me to overcome an "activation energy" barrier, and start trying to change. The person I was before this would not have been able to listen to me now. I see this a lot in others too who are at an earlier stage of their journey.

Find groups on facebook that matches your friends problems + the word healing, or overcome: women healing ptsd

The belief is the first one that must crack. Just no pushing explanation. Just max every 2. month find a small crack in the belief. When your friend is ready (s)he will remember and connect the dots.

I heard a story about a man that healed from sclerosis, from a teacher I trusted. And that was how I started this journey.

Maybe find a disease you do not believe is stress dependent, and look it up with the word stress. Remember people with downs syndrome have had an extension in lifespan from 25 years to 50 years the last 50 years. They are not put in children's home, but grow up in loving families that have chosen to have them.

This might crack a believe about what people can do, maybe a place to start, that do not push to your friends. But is pushing to our general belief.

PS - my sister was diagnosed with MS more than 25 years ago. Has been completely fine for nearly all of those years. (First year issues, which rather than progressing like she was told, stopped. Never came back. ) Shocked her doctor.

Sometimes my body twitches for some seconds (eg eyes, belly, triceps).

After years of fear, I have come to realise it might just be my body getting rid of past tension.

Do these type of twitches qualify as tremors? And what do you recommend to do with them?

Lilian has some videos of various types of muscle twitches, I will see if I can find them. Yes, in principle these are also connected with body memory which wasn't processes properly and so retained. The same sort of therapies should therefore help.
