Dr Gary- may i call you that, my friend? - you have built up quite a compendium of writings on autonomic dysregulation, and your biochemical knowledge is admirable. i never thought so much about dopamine (and still don't) as you do, but really enjoy the way your tales consistently twist back there. And as you know, i agree with you 100% - no! make that at least 200% - about the role of trauma and ACES in our pathologies. Idiopathic? Find the trauma Sherlock, and walk it home. Thank you for doing the research, and good luck with your new book/program!
This opens an interesting can of worms. At what level can parasites impact the mentation of their hosts? Parasites use chemical rewards and punishments to induce desired behaviors. Classical conditioning. It's been understood for a long time that people with candida overgrowth eat more ravenously than uninfected people and are prone to angry outbursts. This serves the yeast because it can metabolize certain nutrients more rapidly than bacteria can. (I have candida overgrowth. I've had it for 6 years. It blooms in the spring and fall wrecking my ankles and knees. It eats my connective tissues. I spend half my time lame and half rehabbing. I'm doing a turpentine treatment that I hope will cure it.)
Yesterday I was discussing the possibility that parasites could induce cruelty toward animals. https://substack.com/home/post/p-145140183 In the comments of this excellent article.
I am also interested in the possibility that these parasites are deliberately injected via vaccine and play a roll in mind control. Why does Ivermectin cure so many of the side effects associated with vaccines including tumors? Can cancer be caused by parasites? Do parasites play a roll in the host's cognitive impairment? Can they cause dementia? The loss of personal autonomy? Addiction to EMF radiation? Can parasitic infection lead to a sedentary life where the host is addicted to TV news and will believe whatever CBS is broadcasting from 6 am to midnight? Was the 1998 movie The Faculty predictive programming? Can behavioral changes caused by parasites lead to an obesity epidemic and large profit for Mountain Dew and other sugar corporations?
The key factor in treating 'dis-ease' clearly seems to be that we 'de-stress' our lives first and foremost. Although this is so obvious, the biggest challenge for most people is to actually escape from everyday stress. Great post, as always, Gary. If I had more money and participated in digital payments, I'd have had a paid subscription to your stack for a long time.

Hi Gary, sorry I haven't gotten to the study on Malassezia yet - promise I haven't forgotten!
