A Few Things That a Parkinson's Diagnosis Taught Me
More Lessons Learned in the Crucible of a Chronic Illness
A few years ago, I was posting almost daily on facebook a few tweet-like words on my thoughts of the day that arose along the way of my healing journey from a Parkinson’s diagnosis. As these have resurfaced in my facebook “memories”, I have re-shared a few choice examples of these here to substack’s “Notes”. I felt it would be fun to collate some of these in to a post too. Not sure if or how the embeds of the Notes will work… you should be able to interact and share each “thought” individually… here goes… you might also need to click through from email as it is giving me a warning message of “too long for email…”
I have followed you for years. Not only did I admire your approach (it's science and it's reality), but I shared your efforts with many people in many Parkinson's support groups. I was diagnosed sixteen years ago, probably had it for over twenty-five years. Much of what you wrote I had incorporated into my life, so I deeply identified. I often tell folks the two ket words, "Keep moving!". Thank you for all your effort and sharing. You positively impacted lots of people and this is what the world needs!
This is one of the best posts I've ever read, and I mean that inclusively, not even of yours Gary. I always gain so much self-wisdom reading you. I stopped and did the first one before I moved on--wet grass, sun straight on closed lids, subtle wind from south now stronger from east, temp calling for more skin less clothes. I need to keep this post close by.
